Why I made this

I really don't like thinking about money. So I set up an automated plan that runs without me, and I wrote it down for a few friends who didn't know where to start.

Two things kept coming up. Friends felt investing was too complicated to begin, and some were paying an advisor 1% a year to pick the same index funds they could buy themselves. I got a finance degree, spent 7 years at Amazon in Seattle and Singapore, and the most useful thing I learned about investing is still the simplest: emotions are what sink people, so take yourself out of it.

This site is that doc, rebuilt and re-checked in 2026. Every number comes from a named source, and the tax rules are 2026's.

How it works

• Nothing you type leaves your browser. The guide and the account tool run on your device and save to it. There's no account and no email form. Analytics (Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity) count visits and clicks, and the guide and tool are masked so what you type is never recorded.
• It's education, not personal advice. It shows what has historically worked, with the evidence. I'm not a licensed advisor.
• How it makes money: the brokers page has my personal referral links, and each one says so next to it. The order of the plan and the funds never change because of them.
